About
A podcast. A community. A movement.
LGBTQ+ Christians and people of faith navigating identity, healing, and their relationship with God.
Singer, songwriter, and You Can Be Both founder Lauren Lanzaretta didn’t come out until she was 35—and didn’t begin openly sharing about her faith and sexuality until just a few years ago.
One day, on a walk, her girlfriend Taylor said something that changed everything: “You need to tell your story. You could help so many people.”
That moment sparked an idea—to start a podcast.
What began as a few honest conversations quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, You Can Be Both is more than a podcast—it’s becoming a community, and even a movement.
Lauren’s vision is to build one of the largest, most supportive spaces for LGBTQ+ people of faith, offering affirming resources, real conversations, and guidance for what can often feel like an overwhelming and isolating journey.
Raised in an evangelical Christian environment, Lauren knows firsthand the shame, fear, confusion, and isolation that can come with realizing you’re gay while still deeply loving God.
For years, she wrestled with how to hold both parts of herself at once.
But through her own healing, coming out, and finding peace in her relationship with God, she realized something powerful—she wasn’t alone. And neither was anyone else going through it.
What started as sharing her story online evolved into the You Can Be Both podcast—a space for honest, unfiltered conversations about the real experiences of LGBTQ+ Christians.
Through solo episodes and conversations with guests, therapists, and affirming voices, the podcast explores topics like church hurt, religious trauma, mental health, biblical interpretation, relationships, identity, and healing.
At its core, the mission is simple:
To help people feel less alone, more seen, and more hopeful—
and to remind them that they don’t have to choose.
They can be both.

As a singer, speaker, and creator of the You Can Be Both movement, Lauren brings a powerful, deeply personal story of navigating faith, identity, and healing as a gay Christian raised in an evangelical world. With honesty, warmth, and conviction, she speaks on overcoming shame, embracing authenticity, and redefining what it means to belong—offering hope to anyone who has ever felt torn between who they are and what they’ve been taught. Whether through storytelling, music, or motivational speaking, Lauren creates a space that is inspiring, thought-provoking, and ultimately transformative.
Our Vision For The Future
The vision for You Can Be Both continues to grow. Lauren’s dream is to create retreats, in-person gatherings, and conferences where LGBTQ+ people of faith can come together in real life to heal, worship, connect, and be reminded that they belong. Her mission is to build the world’s largest movement of LGBTQ+ people of faith rooted in love, honesty, and community — one that helps people reclaim both their identity and their relationship with God.
At its core, You Can Be Both is a message of hope:
you are not alone, you are deeply loved, and you do not have to choose between your faith and who you are.
